Come enjoy a Cherry Coke and a Slaw Dog and remember your years at Leon High School with fellow classmates.  The Leon High School Foundation created an $1 Million Endowment for Leon High School in 12’; only the 3rd Public High School in Florida to create an Endowment. Let us tell you how we are close to $500,000 – half of our goal. We’d like you to go tell your friends and classmates in Tallahassee, on Facebook and at your Reunions about the greatest gift to Leon High School, a perpetual gift of an Endowment.

LHS Teachers Submit 2014 Mini-Grants

LHS Teachers Submit 2014 Mini-Grants

Each year before the Spring Fling fundraiser, the Foundation asks LHS teachers to submit mini-grant requests for classroom academic and extra-curricular enhancements not covered in the annual school budget. These requests are for items or field trips teachers feel would benefit and expand students’ learning. In 2014, the Foundation funded new equipment for science labs, field trips, AP and math supplemental study guides, foreign language novels, and performing arts equipment for indoor and outdoor performances. The list is long and varied, and it always aims to improve the education of Leon Lions! 2014 Spring Fling

2014 Spring Fling

Spring Fling 2014—A Huge Success!  Over 250 friends, parents, alumni and administrators attended the Foundation’s Spring Fling in April. Putting contests, raffles and a silent auction provided everyone with a lot of fun while raising funds for LHS. Many raffle and auction items were donated by local businesses, and the auctioning of two top-level LHS parking spots raised $2,000. The event raised a grand total of $30,000! Mini-grants requests by our teachers and two Tallahassee Community College scholarships for seniors were funded. Photo: Spring Fling Putting Challenge draws a crowd.

2015 Spring Fling was a Huge Success!

2015 Spring Fling was a Huge Success!

Thank you Spring Fling Chairs Erik Kirk, Cay Ford, Stephanie Pichard and Charley Redding (not pictured above).

The Spring Fling was a successful night of fun and fellowship for parents, alumni, teachers, administrators and friends of Leon High School.

Thank you to everyone: Ellen Culpepper and Carolyne Bradford for selling raffle tickets; Terance Keenan and Frank Rudd for selling spots on the Masters Board (see results); Joe Audie and Dan Manausa for helping with the putting green; and Julie Steinmeyer and Wendy Schulte for collecting money during the entire event.

Thank you to the Board for supporting the event by selling tickets and coming early to prepare the venue. We had a great mix of alumni from various decades attend, and I think that is a tribute to the Board and the alumni of Leon High School.

Great job, everyone!

Keep Leon Strong Brochures

Keep Leon Strong Brochures

donor coverThe Keep Leon Strong brochures are arriving in mailboxes of LHS parents, LHS alumni who attended the 100-year Grand Reunion in 2006 as well as the Leon High School Foundation’s own mailing database. If you did not get a brochure in the mail, click here to view the brochure and make a pledge to Leon’s first ever Endowment Campaign.

It will take all of us to reach our goal of $1,000,000 to Keep Leon Strong. With your pledge, we can continue to improve the school for students and the teachers who enrich our students’ lives each day. We know we have a strong group of Leon Lions who will want to participate in this campaign.

If you know of an alumni or family member who you would like us to reach out to, please send their e-mail address to: Individual gifts and/or family gifts honoring current students or past graduates will all add up to help us reach our goal. If 1,000 people give $1,000 we reach our goal. If 800 people give $1,250 we reach our goal. If 10,000 people give $100 we reach our goal. Every bit helps us to create a Million Dollar Endowment for Leon High School.
